The UCH is the central control unit that manages the cabin electronics in Renault and Dacia vehicles. It is found in models such as the Clio, Megane, Scenic, Kangoo, Trafic and Master. Its function is similar to the BSI in PSA vehicles.
What does the UCH control?
- Central locking and remote control
- Interior and exterior lighting, turn signals
- Wipers and heated rear window
- Immobilizer and key / card recognition
- Climate control and comfort functions on some models
Fault symptoms
- Remote or key card not recognizing the vehicle
- Engine not cranking or an immobilizer warning in the instrument cluster
- Doors locking and unlocking on their own
- Turn signals or headlights working erratically
- Battery draining
Common causes
Moisture and water contact, cracked solder joints, and voltage spikes when connecting or disconnecting the battery are the most common causes. Symptoms can sometimes also be caused by the wiring harness or the key battery. That is why fault diagnosis should be done first.
What to check before replacement
- The number in P82xxxxxxx format on the label and the UCH version must match exactly.
- After replacement, key or card pairing and synchronization with the engine ECU may be required.
- For water-related faults, a new module should not be installed until the source of the leak is fixed.

Can a used UCH be fitted?
Yes, but in most cases pairing with the key or card and coding are required. The part number and version must match exactly.
Where is the UCH number written?
The UCH is usually located under the dashboard or behind the fuse box. Its label carries a Renault number in P82xxxxxxx format.
